MACTAN SHANGRI-LA HOTEL & RESORT Cebu |

Located at scenic and historic Mactan Island off the coast of Cebu, the 400 rooms Shangri-La Hotel overlooks a picturesque coastline dotted with swaying coconut trees. It is the first of the Shangri-La chain of hotels in the Philippines. The design concept called for a structure nestled in nature. Sloped facades eliminate monumentalism while exterior finishes and color schemes blend with tropical backdrop. Whereas multi-room beach hotels tend to overpower the surroundings, the Mactan Shangri-La appeared to grow out of the ground around it. The master plan included the simultaneous development of three contiguous restaurants, a sports and recreation center, and comprehensive landscaping. The hotel’s swimming pool is the largest in the entire country. |
