The Saztec Building is a five storey office structure that was designed for the Saztec Corporation. As an office type, the building’s design and layout incorporated the specific culture of the corporation. Prevailing design considerations looked at the ability to synthesize the specific corporate culture with the general Filipino culture creating a building that is adaptive to all local conditions. The Saztec uses wide overhangs that gives the character to the dominant form. This minimized heat gain into the building making it more energy efficient. The slanted roof, a twist form the more common slab roofed International Style office buildings contribute to the development of a regional image that is Neo-Vernacular and Filipino. |
