GATCHES VILLAGE (DORMITORIES) Muntinlupa, Metro Manila |

Dormitory buildings were on stilts with the ground level serving as a daytime activity area with food preparation facilities. Sleeping quarters and a nurse station occupied the raised main level. Roof eaves were extended to negate the need for solid window enclosures. The resulting naturally ventilated structure not only effectively shaded occupants from heat and rain, but also resembled the traditional headgear of the Filipino farmer. Physical therapy and play structures were integrated into each dormitory. The house is elevated on stilts making use of the "silong" space as a play area and dining room giving the user more space to conduct different recreational and therapeutic activities. |
