RESTORATION & RECONSTRUCTION OF THE ISLAND OF CORREGIDOR

Corregidor Island, Cavite

Corrigedor, the island fortress played a pivotal role in the Pacific campaign during the World War II.

Guardian of Manila Bay, it was the departing point for General McArthur. The island has been converted into a historic park and museum that showcase the role of the island in the history of the Philippines and the world.

The work of the firm was to develop a cohesive master plan that transforms the island into a resort/museum complex. The facilities included exhibits, light shows, dioramas and a resort hotel.

In 1981, the firm undertook the development of Corregidor Island as a war memorial. Working on a long range plan, in which construction began in 1988 and continues up to the present, the firm designed a master plan defining a resort zone and a memorial zone. The memorial zone respects the historical events and sites within the islands and confirm to the viewer the significance of the island had in the World War II.

There is also the recreation of a town which includes the church, plaza, an inn and other facilities. The tourist zone provides for cottages, a future resort hotel for families who want to spend an extended amount of time in island.
