As the head of the Interior Design Department of the Firm, Mrs.
Hofileņa is committed to the development of a Filipino identity
in both architecture and interior design. Under her guidance,
the interior design group has been involved in all phases of Interior
Design including space programming, furniture and furnishing design
and selection and development of indigenous materials for wall
and floor coverings as well as upholstery.
Her projects show an expertise not only in residential design
but also in interiors for resorts, institutions and different
offices. Chelo was the lead Interior Designer for the Tahanan
Filipino, in which she developed rooms that are representative
of the different regions like the Tiboli,, Maranao, Ilocos, Vigan
and Tagalog. These rooms show a deep understanding and sensitivity
to the different cultural identities and nuances in the diverse
regions in the Philippines.
Chelo's expertise is not limited to the Philippine setting. She
also handles projects in Hong Kong, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and
Seville. Her Exposition design in Seville was lauded as an authentic
representation of Philippine Culture that sets Filipinos apart
form the rest of Asia.
