ATENEO SCIENCE EDUCATION CENTER Quezon City |
The Ateneo’s growing student population necessitated large scale physical expansion. Known as the College of Science, it contains of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics departments. The project required an exhaustive investigation of each department’s student and faculty activities, present and projected future spatial needs, as well as detailed space programming for various special laboratory facilities. |
The plan also included the design of specific as well as common administrative facilities, classrooms, lecture halls, seminar rooms, faculty offices, and the numerous specific spaces required by each department. Detailed designs of laboratory tables, unique for each department, were also undertaken. Modular faculty work stations, as well as power and lighting systems for the laboratories were also designed. Simultaneously, the road network and pedestrian pathways within the College campus were reconfigured while the existing cafeteria building was modified and expanded. The new structures will manifest a singular architectural character based in part on the existing buildings so that architectural unity for the campus may be achieved. |
